Fire outside Dayton bar likely set by angry regulars

Police are investigating a potential arson case after a Dayton bar was damaged by fire.

At 3:47 p.m. Friday, officers were called to Carmichael's Pub at 3011 Wayne Ave. on reports of criminal damaging.

Employees of the bar said a pair of regular customers had become disorderly the night prior, with the owner eventually telling them to leave.

They said that's when the men got angry, shouting at employees and even throwing a rock at the front door once they were escorted outside.

The bar's owner told officers he noticed a section of siding on the building's east side had been disfigured from an apparent fire.

Investigators reported that the siding had been "severely deformed" and that the damage was consistent with burns. They also noticed a black pile of ash on the sidewalk beside the building, where the owner said a bag of leaves had been sitting.

Surveillance video from around the bar is currently being reviewed as police investigate.
