A Cleveland Elementary teacher is on paid administrative leave this afternoon while school officials conduct an investigation into a mother's claim that her son was assaulted by another student, Dayton Public Schools spokeswoman Jill Moberley said.
Radonna Ward, the mother of a 6-year-old first-grader, told News Center 7 Friday that the teacher told a female student to hit her son after the girl asked the teacher, "what do I do if a boy tries to kiss me?"
According to Ward, the Cleveland Elementary teacher called her shortly after her 6-year-old was hit on Wednesday and apologized for what she told the girl to do.
Ward said the assault left her son with a black eye.
The teacher was not immediately identified by Dayton Public Schools officials and the district will continue to investigate the incident.
