FIRST REPORT April 10: A 38-year-old Centerville woman led Troy police on a high-speed chase through multiple jurisdictions after refusing to yield to a traffic stop early Wednesday morning, police said.

The pursuit started in Troy and ended in Dayton when police deployed a rolling roadblock to force the woman’s car to stop. The suspect, Angela M. Miller, was taken into custody on Interstate 75 south, just before the state Route 4 exit.

She was booked in to the Miami County Jail on multiple charges. During an initial court appearance Wednesday morning, her bond was set at $11,500.

The chase started in the area of Experiment Farm Road and West Main Street when a Troy police officer attempted to pull Miller over for running a red light, having an expired registration and making an illegal u-turn, said Sgt. Dominic Burnside, a Troy police spokesman.

Miller allegedly failed to stop, and the pursuit ensued. She fled on I-75 south, reaching speeds of 110 mph, Burnside said.

As Miller’s car approached the Route 4 exit in Dayton, Troy and Dayton police cruisers, with the help of some truck drivers, boxed Miller’s car in and forced it to stop on the side of the highway.

Miller allegedly refused to get out of the car when police stopped her, so officer broke her car’s window and forced the woman out, Burnside said. She suffered a minor cut to her forehead, and paramedics examined her, but she refused treatment.

Some drug paraphernalia and stolen items from a Troy business were allegedly found in the woman’s car. In addition, police ran the license plate of the car the woman was driving and discovered she had a theft warrant out for her arrest from Montgomery County.

In addition to the traffic violation that led to the chase, Miller will be charged with fleeing and eluding, drug paraphernalia and possibly theft, based on the outcome of the investigation into the items found in her car from the Troy business, Burnside said.
