Burglars target multiple Verizon, AT&T stores

Police in at least four different communities are investigating break-ins into wireless cell phone stores.

On Saturday morning, employees at Verizon and AT&T stores in Piqua, Greenville, Miami Twp. and Kettering discovered shattered front door windows and other evidence of break-ins.

The shattered front door was being replaced at Russell Cellular, a Verizon seller on Ohio 725, where the burglars stole cell phones. The store had been targeted by criminals multiple times in the last week, according to employees there.

Kettering police said one or more burglars tried to break into the Verizon store on Far Hills Avenue, but nothing appeared to be missing.

Rocks were used to shatter windows overnight at the AT&T and Verizon stores in Greenville. It was not clear whether anything was taken in those break-ins.

Piqua police responded to the Verizon store on East Ash Street where burglars smashed in a window and gained entry.

Authorities have not said whether any of the burglaries are related.
