A Tipp City horse rescue that was improperly managed will be dissolved, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today.
Serenity Horse Rescue operator Shula Woodworth agreed to dissolve the organization and redistribute its assets to other horse rescue groups, DeWine said. The assets include a $6,430 payment
In early 2013, Woodworth was charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty. She pleaded not guilty at the time. Woodworth is scheduled for a "change of plea" hearing at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 26 in Miami County Municipal Court, according to court records.
More than 100 animals, including 21 equine, were seized by humane officers from the rescue center. Police searched the rescue after receiving information that the animals were not being fed "sufficient quantity of good wholesome food and water."
