Coronavirus: ‘Rapid increase’ in COVID-19 cases reported in Warren County, health officials say

LEBANON — Health officials are reporting a “rapid increase” in community spread of COVID-19 cases in Warren County, as many businesses continue to reopen across the state, according to the county’s health district.

“If you have attended family gatherings, church services, funerals, or live in an apartment building or other multi-family dwelling, we encourage you to monitor yourself closely for any symptoms and consult your doctor if necessary," a Warren County Health District spokesperson said in a media release Friday.

Since Monday, county health officials have reported 70 new coronavirus cases to the state health department, according to data available from the state. The new cases represents at 14 percent of the total number of cases since the pandemic began.

On Friday, the total number of cases reported in Warren County was 497, with 56 people requiring hospitalization and 20 deaths since the start of the pandemic. The total population in the county is approximately 234,602.

In Montgomery County, 84 new cases were reported since Monday, representing 9.3 percent of the county’s cases since the start of the pandemic. The total number of cases in Montgomery County Friday was 901.

Greene County has seen 18 new cases reported since Monday, which is 13.6 percent of its cases since the pandemic began. State data shows 132 total cases were reported in Greene County as of Friday.

The state has reported 46,825 people have been given tests since Monday. That accounts for 8.9% of the total tests given and reported to the state since the pandemic began.

Health officials continue to urge people feeling sick to stay home, wearing facial coverings over your nose and mouth when around others, and practice social distancing of at least six feet between other people.
