Coronavirus: Over 272K file for unemployment last week

More than 100,000 have filed for unemployment in the last two weeks than in all of 2019, according to the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services.

For the week ending March 28, there were 272,117 initial jobless claims in Ohio. Over the last two weeks, 468,414 have filed for unemployment. In 2019, 364,603 filed for unemployment over the course of t he entire year.

More than 6.6 million Americans applied for unemployment benefits last week — doubling a record high set just one week earlier.
