SPRINGFIELD — The Clark State Performing Arts Center in downtown Springfield will be illuminated in blue April 23 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. as part the Light it Blue Campaign.
The campaign honors and expresses gratitude to all of the healthcare employees, first responders and essential workers on the front lines.
“Our role as an arts organization is providing hope for our community, and like so many in the world today, we want to thank our essential workers,” said Adele Adkins, executive director of the Clark State Performing Arts Center in a written statement. “We also want to send a message to our community and our Clark State students that we are here and cannot wait to welcome them back when it is safe.”
The campaign was first introduced on April 9, originally including 100 broadway theaters and some major landmarks in the U.S.
JR Riechers, the PAC’s lighting designer, has drafted the design for this project and will be installing the lights and messages on the building.
The PAC is currently closed to all events through May 10 of this year to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
