UPDATE @ 3:24 p.m. (Dec. 30)
Clark County Juvenile Court remained closed Wednesday because of a broken boiler.
A connector between two pipes in the boiler broke, causing it to burst on Tuesday at about 5 p.m., Juvenile Court Judge Joseph Monnin said.
“Hallways were covered with water, and we had to turn the heat off,” Monnin said.
Because of the flooding and the lack of heating, the court was closed on Wednesday.
Contractors were called to clean up and make repairs and began work on the boiler Wednesday morning, he said. He hopes the court, at 101 E. Columbia St., Springfield, will be operational by Friday.
“We’re sorry for the inconvenience to the public,” Monnin said.
Any business and other hearings that were to take place on Wednesday and Thursday will be rescheduled, he said.
Original reports on Tuesday from the Clark County Emergency Management Agency said the court was expected to open on Thursday.
Monnin did not say why repairs would take longer than expected.
