MIAMI TWP. — A stretch of Lamme Road near Alex Bell Road will close starting next week until at least the end of October for a bridge replacement project.
Starting Monday, Lamme Road will be closed to traffic at the bridge north of Alex Bell Road, according to the Montgomery County Engineer’s office.
Drivers will be diverted around the bridge via detour. However, the bride will remain open to pedestrians.
Suggested detours are the following:
- Northbound traffic will be west on AlexBell Road to State Route 741 (SR 741), north on SR 741 to Stroop Road, and east on Stroop Road to Lamme Road.
- Southbound traffic will be west on Stroop Road to SR 741, south on SR 741 to AlexBell Road, and east on Alex Bell Road to Lamme Road.
The current bridge was built in 1957 and is the oldest prestressed concrete bridge in Montgomery County, according to the engineer’s office. The bridge has been determined as structurally deficient, and replacement is needed.
In addition to the bridge replacement, a new decorative traffic signal will be installed at Lamme Road and Alex Bell Road. Lamme Road will be resurfaced north of Bushwick Drive, and new curbs and sidewalk repairs will occur south of the bridge.
