Candlelight vigil held Sunday night for murdered Champaign County woman

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY — A candlelight vigil was held Sunday night for a Champaign County woman who was recently murdered.

Family and friends gathered along Kaiser-Lake Road for a vigil and balloon release to honor Whitney Hostler’s life.

Whitney Hostler’s body was found in a wooded ravine near Kaiser-Lake Road after being reported missing earlier this month.

Whitney’s mother Kimberly Long said she wants to make sure people remember her daughter.

“I just want the monsters to know that took her life that I promise that I will get justice for my child,” she said.

A Champaign County couple has been indicted on murder charges in connection to Whitney’s death.

Her funeral is set for later this week.
