WASHINGTON TWP. — Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to the Country Inn and Suites on Yankee Street on reports of a robbery with shots fired early Sunday night.
Authorities said in a press release that the incident was reported at 1:55 a.m.
While police investigated the scene, it was found that an unknown masked person robbed a woman of her purse and backpack with a handgun.

The suspect fired one round from the handgun but no one was injured or struck by the round.
The matter remains under investigation by the Special Investigations Unit of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
