6 reasons to attend Pet Afflaire

Dogue Humane Society Pet Afflaire Humane Society of Greater Dayton (Picasa)

What better way is there to kick off the holiday season then by attending the 26th annual Humane Society of Greater Dayton’s Pet Afflaire Gala?

Held on Saturday, Nov. 12, this dinner with your pets includes thrilling live entertainment and exciting silent and live auctions.

Imagine a room filled with about 400 people and 200 animals -- it's a sight to behold, and one you won't want to miss.

Here's why you don't want to miss this year’s “fur-filled” event that gives you a chance to dine with your pet for charity.

1. Have Dayton Inspire You

This year’s theme for Pet Afflaire is Dayton’s Got Talent, and during the event, you will see why that’s true. From performances by American Idol contestant Alexis Gomez and Comedy Juggler and Ventriloquist Mike Hemmelgarn to ballroom dancers from the Arthur Murray Dance Studio, there is something for all to enjoy. We will also hold an art show featuring some of Dayton’s most talented artists. Each will have pieces of art for sale during the event.

2. Gain Life Experiences

Do you want to bump into your favorite athlete while on the red carpet at the ESPY awards in Los Angeles? How about experience playing golf on a championship course in Arizona? Want to sip wine in Tuscany with a trip for four to Italy? These dreams can become a reality during this year’s live auction. We will have some top getaways as well as plenty of other amazing pieces up for grabs for the highest bidder.

3. Be Number One

You know your pet is number one in your eyes, but why not make it official? One lucky person can bid to have the 2017 Montgomery County #1 dog license. That’s right -- your dog will officially be the #1 Dog in 2017!

4. Get Your Holiday Photos

Have a professional photo taken of you and your pets. We will have a photo booth on site with professional photographers. Photos will be printed and mailed to you in plenty of time to make them your holiday greeting card image.

5. Watch the People and Pets

With a room full of dogs, cats and sometimes a pot-belly pig, Pet Afflaire is a wonderful place to come and enjoy all the wonderful things we love about our animals. Don’t worry, we will have treats on hand so your pets can feel the love too.

6. Help Save Lives

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is proud to be the area’s largest and most-established no-kill organization. We work tirelessly to help thousands of animals find forever homes each year.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency, we receive no government funding and rely solely on the generous donations of individuals, companies and grants to fund 100% of the programs and services we provide to the community. When you support us, you are helping us save even more pets in need right in our community.
