HAMILTON — A 20 deputy emergency response team from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office has been deployed to Louisiana to assists with rescue operations after Hurricane Ida moved through the area.

The ERS has been deployed to the Baton Rouge area and will assist with swift water rescues as needed, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said in a media release.
“The effects of Hurricane Ida has overwhelmed their resources in Louisiana in aiding the community and the Sheriff’s Office has responded to assist when and where it is requested,” the spokesperson said.

The team will consist of 19 members of the ERS and one critical incident manager. The team’s deployment will last 16 days, the spokesperson said.
“Our training and service to the community reaches far beyond the borders of Butler County. If we are called up to assist other agencies in a time of crisis, we will answer that call without hesitation,” Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones said in the media release.
Before Ida made landfall this weekend, an Ohio Task Force 1 urban search and rescue team was deployed to Louisiana. OH-TF1 arrived in Louisiana Sunday and is poised to assist in search operations Monday.
