Dayton Football- Go Flyers!!

NEW YORK, NY — The New York Giants announced Sunday that they are bringing former University of Dayton and Fairborn High School graduate safety Brandon Easterling as a Non-Drafted Free Agent (NDFA) for an invite to their rookie mini camp on May 13th.

Easterling was a co-captain on last year’s Dayton Flyer team that went 6-4 and led the team with 93 tackles. He also had five pass breaks, tied for first in the Pioneer Football League in forced fumbles (two) and an interception. The pick came on the very last play of his college career, clinching the Flyers’ season ending win over Davidson on November 13th.

This brings the total number of Dayton Flyer NDFAs to six in the last nine years.

In 2019, he had 82 tackles and six interceptions, including a pick six, and had three fumbles for a total of nine turnovers to lead FCS football. Easterling was also named an FCS All-American by HERO Sports, the Walter Camp Foundation, Associated Press and STATS FCS. He was also a finalist for FCS Stats’ Buck Buchanan Award, which goes annually to the top defensive player in FCS football, finishing eighth in voting.

Dayton has one former player in the NFL right now, Adam Trautman is playing tight end for the New Orleans Saints. He was taken in the third round in the 2020 NFL Draft and has caught 42 passes in two years.
