Final 53 man roster for upcoming season set for Cleveland Browns

CLEVELAND — The final 53 man roster for the Cleveland Browns has been announced for the upcoming 2022 season.

Cleveland will return nine of their 11 starters from a season ago, with only DTs Taven Bryan and Jordan Elliot set to be the new starters.

17 of the defense’s 26 total players are returning players from a year ago.

The skill positions include five wide receivers, five running backs, and two tight ends.

WR Amari Cooper was one of the Browns’ biggest offseason additions.

Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt will be the team’s top two running backs on the roster.

The tight ends are David Njoku and Harrison Bryant.

The team will have two quarterbacks: Jacoby Brissett and Joshua Dobbs.

Brissett will be the starting quarterback as DeShaun Watson has begun serving his 11 game suspension for alleged sexual misconduct that will keep Watson away from the team until October 10.

Cade York will the kicker and Corey Bojorquez is the punter.

The Browns made the following roster moves to trim their roster from 73 to the required 53 before the NFL’s 4 p.m. Tuesday deadline.

These players were waived:

  • LB Dakota Allen
  • WR Daylen Baldwin
  • TE Miller Forristall
  • TE Nakia Griffin-Stewart
  • G Blake Hance
  • WR Mike Harley Jr.
  • LB Willie Harvey Jr.
  • S Lavert Hill (injured)
  • C Brock Hoffman
  • CB Shaun Jolly
  • CB Herb Miller
  • TE Zaire Mitchell-Paden
  • G David Moore Jr.
  • T Alex Taylor
  • DT Roderick Perry II
  • FB Johnny Stanton IV
  • WR Easop Winston

Cleveland terminated the contract of these players:

  • RB John Kelly Jr.
  • QB Josh Rosen

One player was placed on the reserved/suspended by commissioner

  • QB Deshaun Watson

The Browns will open the season on September 11 in Charlotte, NC against the Carolina Panthers.
