Cornerback Greg Newsome II, defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey, and a friend were heading back to their truck early Monday morning after leaving a bar, according to Cleveland Police.

That’s when the masked men jumped out of another car and robbed them.

Before the thieves drove off, one of them also stole jewelry from Newsome.

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said he’s happy things turned out as well as they did.

“I take things from the headlines every day to teach off of. So, in an instance like this again, I want to reiterate, I’m happy our guys are okay,” he said. “This is a violent crime and we’ve got to make sure those people aren’t on our streets, but we can always use those opportunities to educate.”

No one has been arrested at this time.
