VERSAILLES, Ohio — A local healthcare facility is going above and beyond to make sure patients get to celebrate the holiday with some cheer.
The Versailles Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center put lights up outside the building for the residents and staff to enjoy, but also something for the community to enjoy too.
“We’ve been through so much since March and the start of the pandemic,” Beth Bell, senior director of business development at Versailles Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, said.
“I just really wanted to do something special this year and bring some holiday joy to our residents and to our staff.”
Bell’s family put up the majority of the decorations as they worked tirelessly to try and make it something many would enjoy.
The lights and celebration weren’t just for those driving through or inside the building but remembering those that lost their lives in 2020 as well.
“It was just very overwhelming,” Bell said. “Overwhelming for the residents we brought out. We were remembering the residents that we lost in 2020 and also celebrating the residents and the staff who are survivors of COVID-19.”
It wasn’t until the actual drive thru event seeing the faces of the residents that were able to come out and enjoy them but also the members of the community driving through as well.
Many shared their feelings on social media. Seeing the response made the work that much more rewarding.
“2020 has been challenging,” Bell said. “It’s been a roller coaster of up and down emotions and just very hard and a lot of long hours and that includes our healthcare heroes who work here and care for our residents and patients.”
The healthcare center welcomes anyone to drive by and around the facility after 6pm to see the lights, take pictures, and even honk a horn to say hello.
