TROY, Ohio — Area businesses and organizations are coming together to help the Troy-Miami County Public Library.
It’s the 3rd annual Festival of Trees. Businesses decorate and donate a tree that is auctioned off to the highest bidder.
In the past 2 years the auction has been held at an in-person event. This year it’s moving online.
“There’s something for everybody,” Martha Harris, Community Development Senior Manager for Troy-Miami County Library, said.

“We’ve got prize packages on some of these trees and some of them are just stunning so we’re just really excited to be able to host this again.”
This is the library’s first fundraiser this year and all of the money raised goes to the library’s youth programs.
Many of the trees have gift cards to area businesses on them. However even if someone doesn’t win a tree they’ll be entered to win one of 100 $10 gift cards to an area business.
The 34 trees include things associated with the business or organization like coffee, toys, socks, and drinks.
Librarians worked together to decorate a tree that of course includes a book as well as a birthday party on the book mobile.
“We’ve done this before at our Pleasant Hill branch as a summer reading prize, it’s been really well received so we thought we might as well offer something that only the library can do,” Harris said.
The Festival of Trees runs from November 16th-22nd and features trees that are 2 to 4 feet tall.
To bid on the trees or for pictures and information you can go to the auction site at https://event.gives/festivaloftrees/items.
The library’s youth services programs range from storytimes, take and make crafts, teen programming, summer reading and more. In particular, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library services children ages 0-5 throughout all of Miami County. Currently there are 3,500 children registered and over 4,500 children have graduated from this program that provides a free book each month mailed to their home.
