Selena Gomez may help breathe new life into a 1980s classic.
According to Variety and Deadline, the 30-year-old actress and singer is currently in “final negotiations” with 20th Century Studios to produce a new version of the 1988 comedy “Working Girl.” “Diary of a Future President” creator Ilana Pena is working on adapting the script for the remake, the outlets reported.
It wasn’t immediately clear whether Gomez also plans to lend her acting chops to the movie, which is likely headed to Hulu, Variety reported. Gomez is a star and executive producer of Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building” and HBO Max’s “Selena + Chef,” according to Deadline.
The original “Working Girl” film, which starred Melanie Griffith, Sigourney Weaver and Harrison Ford, was nominated for six Academy Awards and was a box office success, grossing over $100 million, Deadline and Variety reported.
