Late-night television host Stephen Colbert and actor Nick Kroll know how to embrace those awkward adolescent years.

On Wednesday’s episode of Colbert’s “Late Show,” the two launched an effort to raise money for recovery efforts in Puerto Rico using the hashtags #puberme and #puertoricorelief. The idea, put to Colbert as a dare, was to post an awkward picture of himself on social media, and Kroll would follow suit.

Then the two challenged other celebrities to follow along. For each photo of a celebrity posted -- and Colbert gets to decide who is considered a “celebrity” -- the talk-show host said he would donate $1,000 to the relief fund through his Americone Dream Fund, and Kroll said he’d match it.

And, boy, have the celebrities begun to step up. James Corden, John Oliver, Steve Martin,  William Shatner and rocker Sammy Hagar among many others have joined in. Check out this gallery of the goofy, the nerdy and the painfully awkward:
