At least 2 dead, several hurt in 3 separate shootings overnight in Columbus

COLUMBUS — At least two people are dead and several others injured in three separate shootings early Saturday morning in Columbus.

The first shooting was reported just before 2:25 a.m. in the 600 block of North High Street in the Short North, Columbus Division of Police Chief Elaine Bryant told our news partner WBNS in Columbus.

While officers were at the scene, Bryant said more shots were fired from another location and multiple officers returned fire.

Multiple victims were found by officers at both shooting scenes and the exact number of people hurt is not known at this time, WBNS reports.

Columbus Police officers say they were all adults and treated for injuries.

Bryant said one of the victims is in critical condition, the rest are in stable condition.

Ohio BCI was requested to investigate the shooting. No officers were injured in this shooting.

The second shooting happened just after 3:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of St. Clair Avenue where one woman was killed and four others were injured, WBNS said.

When officers arrived, they found five people suffering from gunshot wounds, and a female victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Columbus Police.

Medics transported the other three to the hospital, two are in stable condition while one is in critical condition, WBNS reports.

A fifth person was hospitalized and officers say that is the shooter.

They believe the shooter suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound, WBNS says.

The second deadly shooting took place at the 500 block of East Whittier Street in Columbus around 4:40 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found a man shot in the stomach, according to WBNS.

Medics transported him to the hospital where he later died.

Columbus Police say they do have information on a possible suspect but no one is in custody.
