Springboro school board members announced three finalists for the district’s superintendent today.
The finalists are Melissa Kircher, Jennifer Penczarski, and Daniel Schroer, according to a media release.
The board has narrowed down the field from 16 applicants interviewed after a search by K-12 Consulting.
Kircher is currently superintendent of Bethel-Tate Local School District, and former superintendent of the New Miami Local School District.
Penczarski is currently superintendent of Kenton City School District in Hardin County, and former principal of Tri-Valley Local School District Middle School in Muskingum County.
Schroer is currently superintendent of Margaretta Local Schools in Erie County, and former superintendent of the Greene County Career Center.
The new superintendent will replace Todd Petrey, superintendent of Springboro schools since 2012, who resigned effective Aug. 31. Petrey will be chief operating officer for the Mason City Schools.
Petrey said he left primarily to be able to spend more time with his family, not due to a series of recent controversies, including a bomb threat that closed the high school for a day and prompted a felony prosecution against a student. Andrew Stadler, 18, of Springboro is free without bond, pending a pretrial hearing on July 21 in Warren County Common Pleas Court.
The finalists are to be invited to participate in a community forum and final interview at 5 p.m. July 11.
