RTA recently decided to eliminate Route 14 north beginning on Oct. 16 due to the driver shortage that has been impacting most transportation providers, an RTA spokesperson said in a press release.
After meeting with officials from the city of Trotwood, RTA decided to hold off on service changes to evaluate new data and information shared by officials, the release said.
RTA will continue the use of voluntary and mandatory overtime, as well as deploy administrative or management staff with CDL’s to drive buses when necessary in order to combat the bus driver shortage as they hire more drivers, the spokesperson said.

“RTA will continue the efforts to hire and train CDL drivers and study ways to provide needed public transit services using small vehicles that do not require a commercial driver license,” RTA CEO Robert Ruzinsky said.
All current RTA routes and Connect-on-Demand zones will continue to operate as they do today, the release said.
