Owners of former Upper Valley Mall outline plans for property

SPRINGFIELD — The Upper Valley Mall closed nearly three months ago, but now the property is under new ownership.

Industrial Commercial Properties, a Cleveland-based real estate development company, purchased the 77-acre property for $2.3 million. They said they are busy planning for the property’s future.

Developers said the property will be transformed into a mixed-use business park.

Dean Miller, ICP Senior Vice President of Leasing and Acquisitions, said the business park has the potential to include both industrial and non-industrial businesses, or even possibly a health care institution.

While some Springfield residents said they were sad to see the mall close, residents like Laken Rohrer told News Center 7′s Michael Gordon that she thinks the idea of revitalizing the property is great.

“To have someone purchase it and refurbish it to something better, I think it will be phenomenal,” Rohrer said.

Developers said they intend to re-brand the new building with a name that pays homage to the people and community that surrounds it.
