Ohio’s Department of Transportation is launching the first-of-its-kind Walk.Bike.Ohio plan to give communities safer and more accessible places to walk and ride, according to a release.

The plan comes after local communities have seen an ever-growing need for safe, effective, and convenient walking and biking paths, according to a news release.

“Nearly one out of every 10 Ohio households does not have access to a motor vehicle, meaning active transportation options like walking and bicycling are necessary to meet basic needs,” said Gov. Mike DeWine. “When we ensure that walking and biking are safe, convenient, and accessible options – everybody wins. The Walk.Bike.Ohio plan puts us on the right path to do that.”

Over the next five years, The Walk.Bike.Ohio plan will bring together local and state governments to develop bicycle and walking paths making Ohio more walking and biking friendly. For more information on the Walk.Bike.Ohio plan click here.
