Two weeks ago, the Darke County Health Department observed trash, human feces, drugs and drug paraphernalia underneath the North Broadway Bridge, Greenville PD said.

“The conditions under the bridge were completely unsanitary and not safe for citizens,” a spokesperson for the Greenville Police Department said.

Last week, a notice was posted for anyone who had belongings underneath the bridge to collect their items within 72 hours or they would be removed, the spokesperson said.

The City of Greenville Street Department along with the police department inspected under the bridge on Monday and found that a large amount of trash and debris remained, according to the spokesperson.

All trash items were removed and items that seemed to be personal belongings were left under the bridge and will be removed in 72 hours by the Greenville Street Department if not picked up by the owner, the spokesperson said.

“Our agency has been working with several other agencies to provide resources for any individuals willing to accept assistance,” police said.
