‘A nice place for it;’ Anonymous donor gifts lamp for Bengals fan’s mancave after inspiring story

MIAMISBURG — A loyal Cincinnati Bengals fan has another addition to his man cave, thanks in part of an anonymous donor inspired by his story.

Last year News Center 7′s Kayla McDermott introduced viewers to Mark Hinchee and his basement, a Bengals-themed man cave, when she found out Hinchee had not been down for some time.

The man cave was a passion project Hinchee shared with his late wife, Becky.

After a Channel 7 viewer saw last year’s story during the Bengals run to the Super Bowl, wanted to add to Hinchee’s collection. However, the viewer wanted to remain anonymous and hand-delivered the newest addition to the man cave to McDermott at our station.

“I hope he has a nice little place for it,” said the anonymous viewer.

The viewer had one additional request, for McDermott to deliver the gift to Hinchee, which she happily agreed to do so.

Upon arriving at the Hinchee’s home, McDermott and he headed straight for the basement.

“This is from a viewer who saw our story last year and finally reached out to me now to give this to you so there you go, " McDermott said as she handed him the gift.

The gift giver said it would be unique, and unique it was - a Bengals lamp. The lamp, shaped like a football, with ‘Cincinnati Bengals’ cut out across the front, emits an orange light.

“I definitely do not have one of these,” said Hinchee after opening the gift.

Hinchee would never have thought someone would want News Center 7 to deliver a gift to him. He cannot wait to add this lamp to the bar with the other lights.

Hinchee has a message for the anonymous lamp gifter, “Thank you very much for the gift and it will go to great use. I promise you”.

Since last visiting Hinchee, he has added bottles of wine from last year’s championship game, a Super Bowl program, a BudLight mirror, and a brand new authentic Bengals helmet from the white uniform.
