ID released of ATV rider hurt in Springfield crash

The rider of the ATV who was injured has been identified as 19-year-old Corey Hayslett, of South Charleston, according to the Springfield police report.

He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the report.

He is expected to fully recover from the injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck that struck Hayslett was not injured.

A 19-year-old was illegally riding his ATV on a city street tonight when he was struck by a pickup truck, Springfield police said.

The ATV rider was injured and was flown to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. The pickup truck driver was not hurt, according to police.

FIRST REPORT

A young man was seriously injured tonight when he reportedly pulled his ATV into the path of a pickup truck.

The crash was reported around 8:45 p.m. at the intersection of Sheridan and Ludlow avenues, which remains blocked while police investigate.

The all-terrain vehicle rider was taken from the scene to Springfield Regional Medical Center and then transferred by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

The victim reportedly suffered head and leg injuries, but he was wearing a helmet, officials said.
