An 18-year-old man was arrested on sexual battery charges Friday after being accused of taking advantage of a woman who was intoxicated.
Taylor Norman Sherrill was still being held in the Montgomery County Jail on Saturday morning.
He is scheduled to appear in Vandalia Municipal Court on Monday for the two third-degree felony charges.
Englewood Police Sgt. Mike Lang said the suspect met the victim during a party that occurred last month at an Englewood residence.
The suspect allegedly sexually assaulted the woman, who Lang said was voluntarily intoxicated.
“The assault was interrupted by others at the party,” Lang said.
The incident was later reported to Englewood police, who obtained an arrest warrant for the man. He was taken into custody shortly before 4 p.m. Friday.
