UPDATE @ 8:30 p.m. (March 6): The girl who was punched repeatedly in the fight at Fairborn High School this week returned to a hospital this afternoon.

Her stepmother said the girl was complaining of headaches. Her condition was not immediately known.

UPDATE @ 5:53 p.m. (March 6): Four students have been suspended — two of them with a recommendation for expulsion — for their involvement with the fight in the girls restroom, Fairborn High School Principal Gene Lolli told News Center 7's Lauren Clark.

Lolli did not specify which of the students has been recommended for expulsion, but he said one of those suspended was the student who recorded the fisticuffs on her smartphone.

FIRST REPORT

Fairborn High School administrators are investigating a fight in the girls restroom this week that sent one girl to the hospital.

A freshman said she was attacked by another girl during lunchtime Wednesday. Another student taped the incident on her cellphone, and that video has been widely circulated online. The freshman said she was knocked unconscious. The video shows the girl being repeatedly pushed to the ground and repeatedly punched. The girl’s stepmother said she had a CT scan at a local hospital to rule out serious injury.

The family also has filed a report with Fairborn police. No charges have yet been filed.

Principal Gene Lolli said Thursday evening the incident is under investigation, and that school administrators are still working to identify the student who filmed the incident.

Lolli said the girl in the video is not in school now as the incident is investigated.

“There will be discipline coming,” he said, “once we complete our investigation.”

Lolli said he hadn’t seen the video, but that the report is being taken very seriously and that he has spoken to the school resource officer about the case.

When asked whether security needs to be stepped up, Lolli said there are several staff members in the commons area during lunch. Also, he said this incident can be described as an “isolated incident” at the high school.
