The crash was reported around 1:55 p.m. Thursday afternoon following a pursuit that began when officers tried to pull over the motorcyclist for involvement in drug trafficking.

Members of the Special Operations Unit were following the motorcyclist and watched him make hand to hand transactions. They called for a marked police cruiser to stop the driver so an arrest could be made.

Officers attempted to pull over the driver and he took off at a high rate of speed, beginning the chase on Breiel Boulevard at Lefferson Road.

The chase came to an end when the motorcyclist struck the rear end of a tractor trailer.

The Special Operations Unit recognized the man as he’d been arrested in 2018 for possession of meth. He was released from prison for the drug charge in May this year.

The incident remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
