Teen, man stabbed in Dayton, police investigate at apartment

DAYTON — A teen and man were stabbed and taken to area hospitals, where at least one of them are being treated for serious injuries, following a stabbing at an apartment complex, according to police.

“We’re doing some construction work and a man just got dropped off. He’s all bleeding and cut up,” a 911 caller told dispatchers.

That 911 caller was working near the intersection of North Smithville Road and Springfield Street around 8:40 a.m. when he said a woman driving a silver car dropped the stabbing victim off after picking the victim up a short distance up the road.

“She said she was just driving...and he stopped her.” the caller said.

Police later found the scene of the stabbing at an apartment complex in the 300 block of North Smithville, Sgt. Eric Brown said. Multiple cruisers and crime scene tape surrounded an area outside the apartment building.

A second victim, which records show is a teenager, was taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital by a private vehicle, Brown said.

Police said the stabbing may have stemmed from an argument over some property.

Brown said that police have persons of interest they are questioning in connection to the stabbing.

A baseball bat also was among some of the evidence recovered from the scene.
