Man indicted for murder after victim found shot, burned

DAYTON — A Dayton man has been indicted on multiple felonies, including murder, for the death of Kevin Hughes, whose body was burned after he was shot, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.

On July 4, the body of Hughes, 38, of Miamisburg, was found in a wooded area near the intersection of West Riverview Avenue and Linnbrook Drive. Hughes had been shot at another location and his body was taken to the wooded area for disposal, according to the prosecutor’s office.

Dana H. Parks, 39, is accused of shooting Hughes outside her residence on Valencia Avenue in Dayton following an argument. The victim’s car was located on July 6 in Trotwood.

Parks was indicted on the following charges:

  • Two counts of Murder
  • Two counts of Felonious Assault
  • Three counts of Tampering with Evidence
  • One count of Gross Abuse of a Corpse
  • One count of Attempted Arson
  • One count of Arson
  • One count of Having Weapons Under Disability – prior offense of violence

Parks is currently in prison at the Lorain Correctional Institution after his parole was revoked in an unrelated case. The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at 8:30 am.
