WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE — Wright-Patterson Air Force Base announced it has transitioned from health protection condition Bravo+ to Charlie, an increase as COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the Miami Valley.
“It’s the right thing to do for our people,” said Col. Patrick Miller, 88th Air Base Wing Commander at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. “At the end of the day, the mission does not stop.”
The transition to HPCON C is due the rise of new COVID cases, percent positivity rates, and hospitalizations in our surrounding counties, the 88th Air Base Wing announced this afternoon.
Last week, Greene County reported 591.3 cases per 100,000 people, Miami County reported 487.9 cases per 100,000 people, Montgomery County reported 444.1 cases per 100,000 people and Clark County reported 399 cases per 100,000 people, according to Ohio Department of Health data.

The change in the level comes just days after the base declared a Public Health Emergency for at least 30 days.
HPCON C means there is a substantial increase in community transmissions and people are asked to wear masks and maintain physical distance, the base said.
As part of the move, facility occupancy will be reduced to less that 25 percent and travel exceptions are required for official travel and/or military leave, according to the 88th Air Base Wing.
