WPAFB — Wright Patterson Air Force Base will be a part of the new National Space Intelligence Center, according to Rep. Mike Turner.

The news comes after Turner’s office confirmed he spoke with Gen. John Raymond, chief of space operations at U.S. Space Force.

During the meeting, Raymond reiterated his intent to have the National Space Intelligence Center co-located with the National Air and Space Intelligence Center at WPAFB, Turner’s office confirmed.

“This is outstanding news for WPAFB and the Dayton region! Ohio has always been central in the evolution of flight, and we will continue to have a pivotal leadership role in the growing field of space intelligence. This is a huge win for Ohio, " stated Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine in a tweet Wednesday evening.

We are working to learn how many jobs this might bring to the Miami Valley and we will continue to update you as we hear details about the project.
