GREENVILLE — Firefighters are investigating a deadly house fire in Greenville after a woman was found dead early Thursday morning after a fire broke out, according to investigators.
Brenda Marcum, 68, was identified as the woman found dead inside a house in the 400 block of East Main Street in Greenville, Greenville Fire Chief Russ Thompson said in a statement to News Center 7.

Fire crews were called on a report of a fire at the East Main Street house around 1:40 a.m. and found a room and the contents of the room on fire, Thompson said.
Crews found Marcum inside the room and she was later pronounced dead. Her cause and manner of death have not been officially determined and are pending the findings of the Darke County Coroner’s Office.
The fire was quickly extinguished and damage was contained to the room where it broke out, Thompson said. Damage to the house is estimated around $10,000.
The cause of the fire has not been determined. The incident is being investigated by the Greenville Fire Department, Greenville Police Department, and the Division of State Fire Marshal, Thompson said.
