A snowmibile crash left a West Milton woman dead and her husband injured in an incident that is underinvestigation for alcohol involvement.
Kathryn J. Hobbs, 20, was the rear passenger as her husband, 24-year-old Jacob L. Hobbs, drove a 2002 Barmbadier Ski-Doo and wrecked into a utility pole on an Arlington Road sidewalk at approximately 2:30 a.m. Saturday, according to a release from the Ohio Highway Patrol.
Hobbs was traveling westbound on Wolf Creek Road when he failed to stop for a Brookville police officer, and instead turned north along Arlington Road and crashed, according to the release.
Both were ejected from the snowmobile. Kathryn Hobbs was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ohio Highway Patrol Trooper Sgt. John C. Chesser said at the scene Jacob suffered minor injuries but refused medical treatment. He was released to a family member.
The crash, and whether alcohol was involved, are being investigated and Chesser said charges may be presented to the prosecutor's office.
