Volunteers participated in mock training exercises Saturday on how to respond to disasters, according to a release. The mock training exercise featured a simulated radiation emergency, which was held at Calamityville – The National Center for Medical Readiness.
Members of the Medical Reserve Corps and the Community Emergency Response Teams participated in the training and exercise, read the release. These members served as volunteers during an emergency response to natural disasters, acts of terrorism and other events that require a coordinated response.
The training and exercise ensured that volunteers are more prepared to respond when disaster strikes, and it was also designed to help people with functional needs such as mobility issues and language barriers.
