University of Dayton announces death of 22-year-old student

DAYTON — The University of Dayton announced the death of a student, Quinn Moffett, 22, Saturday.

Moffett died unexpectedly Wednesday morning in Ann Arbor, Michigan, according to UD officials.

She was from Ypsilanti, Michigan, studying health science at UD.

“She sought out the transfer student, the outsider, the kid going through a rough patch,” Moffett’s obituary states.

“She cared for people, giving of herself and so inspiring others to do the same. And she was unafraid to speak out when she felt someone was being mistreated.”

We are working to learn more regarding the circumstances surrounding Moffett’s death.

UD is holding an open Zoom room at 5 p.m. Monday so that those who mourn her loss can gather together.

“Quinn is part of a UD alumni family and we extend our deepest sympathy and prayers to her family, friends, professors and our campus community,” said Eric F. Spina, president of the university.

“We pray for comfort and peace for each of you.”
