Food left cooking on a stove is being blamed for causing smoke damage at a Kettering apartment building Sunday.
Crews responded at approximately noon to the Wood Oak Apartments, 3300 block of Woodman Drive.
A neighbor saw smoke rolling out of an open second floor window and called 911, according to a Kettering fire official.
No one was injured.
The official said the residents of the apartment had not been located.
They left food cooking on the stove and firefighters were able to quickly put out the flames.
Damages were mostly from smoke and limited to the one apartment.
