Urbana firefighter, Champaign County dispatcher killed in Huber Heights motorcycle crash

HUBER HEIGHTS — An Urbana and a Champaign County dispatcher were killed in a motorycle crash in Huber Heights late Wednesday night.

The accident was reported about 11:25 p.m. in front of a Marathon Gas station, in the 8000 block of Brandt Pike, north of the I-70 interchange.

Chelsey Baumann, 26, of Urbana, and Joseph Hester, 35, of Tipp City, were found unresponsive in the street and taken to the hospital, where both died from their injuries.

Hester was an Urbana firefighter, and Baumann was a dispatcher with the Champaign County Communication’s Center, according to Facebook posts.

“Preliminary investigation shows speed may have been a factor in the traffic crash,” Huber Heights Police said in a statement.
