NOW PLAYING ABOVE

LOS ANGELES — The Super Bowl is drawing thousands of fans from all over the country — and the world.

People who don’t have tickets to get into the actual game are making the most of the fan experience.

In Los Angeles, people are encouraged to come to the Convention Center downtown to take part in all the festivities surrounding the big game.

With so many people already there and more expected, heavy security is a no-brainer.

News Center 7′s Cheryl McHenry is in Los Angeles and spoke with a fan all the way from Germany.

Robert Salkowsky from Munich said that American football has become more popular in Germany over the years.

“I think it’s the event,“ Salkowsky said, “people coming together Sunday evening. Watching together, drinking, eating and the way we present it.”

He said that unlike soccer in Germany, American football isn’t taken too seriously.

“We have fun,” Salkowsky said.
