STORM DAMAGE: Significant amount reported in Xenia, Beavercreek townships

National Weather Service investigators will visit Greene and Clark counties this morning to confirm reports that a tornado touched down Tuesday afternoon.

Significant damage to trees, barns and other buildings spans from Ludlow Road to Clifton Road in the area of U.S. 68 and Ohio 235, according to firefighters.

“The damage does appear to be more than straight line winds when you look at the patterns,” said Scott Dorsten with the Beavercreek Twp. Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the area of the 1000 block of Ludlow Road on a report of wires down, but soon discovered the additional damage.  The path of the damage spanned northeast, Dorsten said.

“They were called out initially on wires down,” Dorsten said. “We started noticing the other damage associated with this.”

Beavercreek Twp. and Xenia Twp. firefighters were blocking both ends of Ludlow Road around 5:15 p.m.

Dorsten said no injuries were reported in Beavercreek Twp., however he was not able to provide details on other areas outside of Beavercreek Twp.

In South Charleston, a family’s barn was destroyed after a severe storm swept through the area Tuesday evening.
