SPRINGFIELD — New owners were expected to move into a house that caught fire on East Madison Avenue Thursday.
Firefighters responded to the house in the 200 block to find fire coming from the back doors and windows of the house.
Investigators said an electrical malfunction was to blame for the flames.
Firefighters were able to put the fire out quickly to avoid it spreading to the rest of the house, according to the Springfield Fire Division.
No one was in the house at the time of the fire.
