Son charged with murder after father’s body parts were found in Trotwood

TROTWOOD — A man is now facing murder charges after his father’s body parts were found in Trotwood last year.

Edgar Keiter, Jr., 52, was formally charged with gross abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and theft charges is May 2024. Today, he was indicted on nearly 30 additional charges, including aggravated murder, murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, felonious assault, grand theft of a motor vehicle, grand theft from an elderly or disabled victim, theft from an elderly or disabled victim, conspiracy, and misuse of credit cards.

As News Center 7 previously reported, Trotwood police were called to reports of garbage bags in the 7500 block of Old Dayton Road that appeared to have human legs inside on April 22, 2024.

An investigation found that the remains belonged to Keiter Jr.’s 75-year-old father, Edgar Keiter, Sr., of Kettering.

The rest of Edgar Sr.’s remains were found in a storage unit in the 1700 block of Guenther Road.

As the investigation continued, additional evidence was collected and showed that Keiter Jr. was responsible for his father’s murder, according to the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office.

Keiter Jr. is currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail on a $500,000 bond. He’s scheduled to be back in court next week.

Keiter Jr.’s son, Tygan Keiter, and girlfriend, Amanda Reiff, were both also charged in connection the case.

Tygan Keiter pleaded guilty to two counts of tampering with evidence in November and will be sentenced next month.

Reiff pleaded guilty to five counts, including forgery, misuse of credit cards, and conspiracy charges, in December. She’s scheduled to be sentenced in March, according to Montgomery County Common Pleas Court records.
