DAYTON — Police are searching for a male they said tried to break into one store at the Pinewood Plaza Shopping Center and also could have burglarized another there.
Police said that just after 6 a.m. Tuesday, the male threw a rock at front door of the Shoe Show, 1038 S. Smithville Road, but did not break the glass.
The male, police said, then used his shoulder to try and break the glass. When that didn’t work, he left.
The attempt caused an estimated $1,000 in damage, according to the police incident report.

About 5:02 a.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to Cato Fashions at the shopping center on a burglary alarm.
Officers said they noticed the front door had been smashed in and some clothing was in the parking lot.
They also found a piece of concrete on the floor of the store, which may have been used by the suspect.
Police also found fresh boot prints and three empty clothing racks in the store.
The investigation is continuing and police are working to retrieve surveillance video from Cato Fashions to determine if the same suspect is responsible for both incidents.
