HUBER HEIGHTS — Huber Heights police arrested an alleged shoplifter during their shop with a cop event Tuesday.

The department hosts the shop with a cop event so they can take people in need shopping, but this year’s event was a little more exciting.

During this week’s event, a woman was approached by the store’s loss prevention staff and she attempted to flee, police say.
According to police, off-duty Huber Heights officers who were there for the shop with a cop event, were able to catch up to her and take her into custody.
The woman is accused of attempting to steal $259 worth of products from the store. She was taken to the Montgomery County Jail for a theft misdemeanor.
“Big thank you to Huber Heights FOP 161 for apprehending a shoplifter during shop with a cop event they put on. Not exactly the grinch but we’ll take it!” the Huber Heights Police department posted on their social media.
