The semitrailer carrying an estimated 40,000 pounds of automobile parts rolled over the cement wall and ended up under the ramp.

The driver, Anthony Romaker, 62, of Bowling Green, Ohio, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Wednesday night, three men who were performing landscaping work near the interstate Tuesday told News Center 7's Sean Cudahy they helped get the driver out of the cab and were a little dismayed more people didn't stop to help.

They said that as they ran to the busted rig, they couldn't believe no one was helping Romaker.

"Everyone was just standing around, looking at it. He could have been really hurt and no one was down there checking on him," said one of the three, Bradley McHargue.

Another of the three, Austin Whitt, said, "phones, that's all they were worried about selfies, videos, whatever."

Whitt said he and the others made it to the rig to find its "tires were spinning. ... [The] man was definitely in shock, most definitely. He didn't know what was going on."

McHargue, Whitt and Roland Williamson said they were concerned the rig would explode before they could help the driver.

EARLIER REPORT (Jan. 7)

The driver of the semitrailer that crashed around 1:50 p.m. Tuesday after rolling off the exit ramp from I-70 East to I-75 North suffered non-life threatening injuries, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

The crash involving Anthony Romaker, 62, of Bowling Green, Ohio, remains under investigation and charges are pending, Trooper Sheldon Goodrum said in a prepared statement.

Romaker was taken to Miami Valley Hospital.

According to the preliminary investigation, the semitrailer failed to slow for the curved exit ramp and the rig rolled over the cement wall and came to a rest under the ramp from I-75 North to I-70 West.

There were no road or ramp closures while investigation and road clean up were underway, but crews worked for the next several hours to remove the vehicle.

According to earlier reports, the trailer was loaded with 40,000 pounds of automobile parts. Those parts will be removed from the wrecked trailer and loaded onto another one being brought to the scene.
