SPRINGFIELD — A local school district has canceled classes today due to illnesses.

Clark-Shawnee Schools announced on social media they are closed today “due to a significant number of teacher and support staff illnesses.”

The district said they cannot maintain the staffing levels for the “safe and effective operation” of their schools and students.
“The health and safety of both students and staff remain the highest priority for the school. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we navigate this increase in staff and student illness,” the school district said.
They also added the following:
- Students who attend the CTC or GISA can ride a shuttle from Shawnee High School to their school. The shuttle will leave at 7:15 a.m.
- Coaches will contact families about evening activities.
The district encourages everyone to practice health habits, including washing hands often and staying home when sick to prevent the spread of illness.
